This webinar is designed for early learning practitioners, directors, owners, and teachers. Join Breathe Pennsylvania’s Certified Asthma Educator for the following training:
- Define and differentiate asthma and allergy to identify policies and procedures that ensure all children's maximum healthy participation within the classroom: Focus on asthma and allergy statistics and definitions. Review myth versus fact regarding allergic asthma.
- Describe food allergies, symptoms, and treatment: Review common allergens and “critically think” through symptoms. Evaluate and respond with “best practice” treatment options.
- Explain how allergies impact children with asthma: Acknowledge the disparities associated with asthma control and its effect on sleep, behavior, and inclusion. Prepare discussions on overall self-management responsibilities, and consider the child’s self-management skills and their level of readiness based on age.
- Identify current asthma/allergy action plans that assign classroom management roles to identify critical components of an effective emergency preparedness plan: Develop, review, and update “best practice” policy and procedure. Form a school allergy team with assigned roles. Provide education and training for relevant personnel. Utilize asthma and allergy action profiles to manage asthma and allergies properly in the Early Learning Center/School setting.
